Thank you to everyone who has taken part in the Yū survey so far.
We've now passed 350 responses, and the project continues to grow. Every response helps build us build a clearer picture of what people want from a Japanese-inspired bathhouse in Britain.
I'd like to share something that stood out to me from the survey responses so far.
When the first survey responses started arriving, the Yuzu Fruit Bath in the snow was comfortably the most popular concept image.
Then the heatwave ended.
Quietly, the Iwa Stone Bathing Garden took the lead. Today, it's the favourite concept image, by a long way.
Perhaps the change in weather played a part. Perhaps people simply imagine themselves there more easily. Or perhaps we're all drawn to different kinds of bathing depending on the season.
But there's something else I'd like to tell you about the Iwa Stone Bathing Garden.
It's the only concept image that already contains a small symbol of what Yū is becoming.
Hidden among the stones is a crane:

In Japan, folding one thousand paper cranes symbolises hope, perseverance and a shared wish. Cranes are also symbols of longevity, and appear throughout the folklore of many of Japan's most celebrated hot springs.
Over the coming months, you'll start hearing more about The Thousand Cranes Club.
It will become the community helping bring Yū Bathhouse to life.
What's next?
Over the coming months, we'll continue sharing updates as Yū develops, from the concept and design to the conversations helping shape the project. Once the survey has reached enough people, I'll also share the full results with everyone who's signed up, so you can see what we've discovered together.
Do you know someone who would love a Japanese inspired bathhouse?
Please share our survey with them. Every response helps us understand whether Yū Bathhouse could become a reality.
